KSRTC strike called off


Thiruvananthapuram: The indefinite strike called by the KSRTC employees which was to take place from Tuesday has been called off. The decision comes after the meeting of KSRTC employees’ representatives with transport minister AK Saseendran and labour minister TP Ramakrishnan on Sunday. The strike was called demanding reinstatement of temporary staffs, withdrawal of service cancellations and unscientific duty renovations, distribution of DA arrears and interim relief, cancellation of the decision to rent buses etc. Transport minister accepted the lapses that occurred in duty modification of the staff including single duty system. He entrusted transport principal secretary to study the matter and submit a report within 15 days. After that a discussion will be held with the representatives of various labour organizations on October 17. Minister also ensured that 143 temporary staff will be reinstated to KSRTC and will be appointed to apt positions. KSRTC MD Tomin J Thachankary also attended the meeting. It is known that the issues between Thachankary and the employees was also discussed in the meet.
