Thiruvananthapuram: Putting an end to the long term waiting for a job after being named in PSC list, new candidates will join as conductors of KSRTC today. 4051 candidates received appointment orders to join as KSRTC bus conductors. Those who have not received the appointment orders were also directed to report at the chief office in Thiruvananthapuram. Few people have given request letter seeking more time to join service. The number of new conductors will be confirmed once they report at the office. KSRTC expects 1000 conductors The authority expects at least 1000 people will join service today. Those who report today will be deployed immediately on duty as 4071 empanelled conductors were dismissed from service. The certificate verification process will be completed within a day and the new conductors will be sent to various depots. Further training will be given at each depots. They will start duty after two days training. Training will be given under senior bus conductors. They will be sent for independent duty within one week. As per Road Transport Corporation Act, KSRTC Managing Director is empowered to appoint conductors who have no conductor license. These conductors are allowed to take licence during service. Conductors on leave asked to report However, KSRTC has asked all conductors appointed as permanent staff to immediately join duty. At present 800 conductors are on leave. They are also requested to take overtime duty. At the same time, KSRTC is planning to operate long distance and inter-state buses without conductors. Either station master or inspector will issue the tickets to passengers from the bus stations. Over 500 inspectors are working under KSRTC. Such buses will have only limited bus stops. In this bus, drivers will also possess conductor license.
