Sabarimala services: KSRTC income increases three fold

Most profitable was the Pampa-Nilakkal chain services.
Thiruvananthapuram: KSRTC Managing Director Tomin J Thachankary said that the income of KSRTC from the Sabarimala services this year increased thrice when compared to the previous year. Revenue of Rs 45.2 crore was obtained this year where it was Rs 15.2 crore last year.

Most profitable was the Pampa-Nilakkal chain services. Rs 31.2 crore was collected from this alone while the long distance services fetched Rs 14 crore during the Sabarimala season.

Systematic management and routes helped to achieve his mark, said Thachankary.

99 non-AC buses, 44 AC buses and 10 electric buses had conducted services in the Pampa-Nilakkal route on a daily basis. 70 buses were used for long distance journeys from Pampa.

In the view of heavy rush on Makaravilakku festive day, the number of buses were increased to 1000. Also the ticket booking using QR code helped to increase the revenue.

Thachankary also opined that digital ticketing system where there are only drivers and no conductors in the bus helped in increasing the revenue.
