Politics is not my cup of tea, says the actor
Thiruvananthapuram: Ending to the rumours on candidature of superstar Mohanlal in Lok Sabha elections, the actor himself declared that he has no plans to contest in the elections as BJP candidate in Thiruvananthapuram.
“I am not interested to be a candidate for the upcoming polls. I have got a lot of work to do. There are rumours that I will contest in the elections. But I cannot keep away from my job. So I will not contest in the elections,” said Mohanlal.
“Politics is not my cup of tea. As an artist, film is my field. So I dedicate 99 percent of my time for it. I have got a lot of projects to complete. So I have no plans to skip films and join politics,
Mohanlal’s statement has put an end to the excitement of fans and politicians who were eagerly waiting to know the response of the actor on the rumours regarding his candidature. Though, he had told his close friends that he will not contest in the polls, his own statement has given more clarity to the public.
On Monday, it was reported that RSS has started a survey seeking public response on fielding Mohanalal, Mizoram governor Kummanam Rajasekharan and BJP state general secretary K Surendran in Thiruvananthapuram seat. Amidst of this, Mohanlal revealed his stand on his political entry.
Mohanlal’s visit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in connection with the activities of a trust named after the actor’s parents led to the rumours on Mohanlal’s relationship with Sangh Parivar outfits.
Responding to the rumours, BJP state committee stated that the party never discussed on fielding Mohanlal in Thiruvananthapuram for the Lok Sabha polls.
